President-elect Barack Obama is being sworn into office today. Where are you watching the events of this historic day unfold?
I watched the inauguration live in Helsinki. As soon as President Obama was sworn in we popped a bottle of bubbly. The TV had BBC World, while our laptops had CNN, CSPAN and pic2009.org streaming. Yes, I know...
The event felt like a media milestone, and I loved the CNN and Facebook integration. For once, I could watch news and be a geek at the same time. :)
How do you eat your pizza: folded, flat or with a fork and knife?
Submitted by danimass.
I used to pretty much always eat it with a fork and knife. Nice and clean. Then I moved here, and now I just grab it with my hands and stuff my face.
Chicago-style pizza is an exception, of course. There's just no way to eat those thick slices without a knife and fork.
What did you do this weekend?
I went for a fishing trip a couple of miles off Half Moon Bay.
TMI alert! Only keep reading if you're not eating.
We left the pier on a 50-foot boat around 7am. I had taken my Dramamine, and I was ready to get some fish.
Then, suddenly, I start feeling a little less than great. In short, within 30 minutes I was officially seasick. Once you're out on the sea, it's not that easy to get back, so I got to sit down and be sick for another 7 hours.
Those were 7 long hours.
It was like a switch had gone off in my head, and my body decided that it wanted none of this moving stuff. The fact that it was foggy and overcast didn't stop me from getting sunburnt either.
For what it's worth, I wasn't the only one - more than half of the group I went with suffered from the same ailment, and at least one other person on the boat was hit about as hard as I was.
The next day the muscles in my upper body were sore - just like after a hard workout.
If you have a chance to go fishing, don't get the less drowsy Dramamine. Just don't.
The Lego Monorail was pretty cool.
Update: QOTD is still on dashboard even after I answer the question. Maybe my answer wasn't good enough? Hm..
